About Dr. Elke Parsons

I approach each patient individually and take into careful consideration the full spectrum of their health history and current goals. This is the foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the strategy I apply to each person. The potential variety of ailments I treat vary immensely. Some of my successes include the treatment of pain, chronic conditions, anxieties, gut issues, nutritional advice, cosmetic acutherapy, grief and people who generally feel stuck. I love to explore the possibilities within an individual and help them achieve their greatest successes.

Currently, I have a private family practice and treat people in person and via telehealth.  I offer traditional Chinese medicine including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, acupoint injection therapy, nutritional support, lifestyle counseling, and individual health and transformational coaching.

My approach embraces collaboration with other medical providers. I believe in supporting all approaches to healthcare. I welcome and initiate communication with concurrent providers.

My Mission

My mission is to provide a safe, holistic, minimally invasive and effective approach to natural health through traditional East Asian modalities with up to date expertise. My goal is for every patient to have an enhanced understanding of their body and an improvement in their overall health.  Patients can be heard and have a voice in their treatment options when partnering with me. They can expect to receive not only quality healthcare but also participate in their care by actively making choices in the management of their healthcare.

Background and Education

I attended the State University College at Oneonta, NY and graduated with double majors in psychology and anthropology. After graduating, I was unsure of what direction I wanted to take. With good fortune, I segued into the start of my sister’s career. This led me to extensive travel through Indonesia where my interest in natural health was ignited. I then attended the New York Institute of Massage and had the pleasure of being taught by several passionate instructors which deepened my love of learning and natural health.

After graduating valedictorian, I immediately began my Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Finger Lakes School of AOM at the New York Chiropractic College. After completing this degree and receiving my National Diplomat in Oriental Medicine, I moved west and began my private practice. After treating patients for over 10 years, taking multiple continuing education courses including acupoint injection therapy, cannabis science and cosmetic acupoint therapy, I went back to school and earned my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health Sciences.

My love of lifelong learning and passion for the health of my patients will always inspire me to continue to deepen my knowledge. Currently, I am once again enrolled at Pacific College of Health Sciences studying Health and Human Performance Coaching.

Personal

I have two amazing children who are the center of my world. Together we enjoy adventures in travel, the outdoors, reading and spending time at home. Sadly, I was widowed when my children were one and five, so maintaining a healthy work-family-and personal life is an important balance and always a work in progress.
